It is a friday and many of you won't feel like being productive this afternoon. I have the solution for you.
NotStarring.com
This is my favorite new website that doesn't have scantily-clad young ladies and does not mention sports. The website tells you who was considered for what famous role and who turned down a famous role that shouldn't have. You can search by actor or movie.
Some of my favorites:
- Tom Selleck had to back out of being Indiana Jones because he couldn't get out of his Magnum P.I. contract
- Robin Williams was considered for the role of the Joker in "Dark Knight" (ew)
- Actors that turned down the role of John McClane in "Die Hard": Burt Reynolds, Kurt Russel, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Richard Gere. Richard freaking Gere? Then again, we all laughed at Bruce Willis starring in that role at the time. After all, he was a wimpy little detectvie on Moonlighting (and I loved him).
- John Denver turned down the lead in "An Officer and a Gentleman". He was so mad he then hopped on a plane and....
- David Letterman auditioned for the lead in "Airplane!"
- Michael Madsen (one of my favorites) turned down the role of Vince Vega in Pulp Fiction. This really sucks because Travolta would have gone away long ago and never come back. Ugh.
- Will Smith turned down the role of Nero in "The Matrix".
- O.J. Simpson was passed over for the lead in "The Terminator" because the director thought he wouldn't be taken seriously as a killer. Ummmm.....
- Sergio Leone (best known for "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" movie/trilogy and one of my faves) turned down the chance to direct "The Godfather".
- Jack Nicholoson turned down the role of Michael Corleone.
- Kevin Kline was considered to play Batman. Talk about a big chill....
- Sean Young actually had the role of Vicki Vale before breaking her collarbone. Do you think Kim Basinger was just a
bit
of an upgrade?
Lets hear some of yours
