The one thing I know that I had to manage when I got married was my love of spending time on my own. Ever since I can remember I have always been a bit of a loner at times. It isn't that I don't appreciate the time that I spend with others. I just like and even need to have a little isolation every now and then. It is at these times that my batteries are charged and I even feel a little spiritual.
My better half was kind enough to take her mother to see Celine Dion this evening so I had some time to myself. At times I can be a little obsessed about working out or getting my worke done. I almost stayed home and went for a long bike ride around the Island but I decided to skip that and head up to one of my favorite places on Earth. There is something about the hill that overlooks Lake Ontario in Olcott that is so very peaceful and serene. At times I've gone up there with a book but just ended up sitting there staring at the water.
Tonight I went up there to finish a book that I thoroughly enjoyed - Dan Brown's
Deception Point
. I know, I know... this isn't the kind of book that I normally read but like the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons (which I actually liked better) the book kept me glued to the story from cover to cover. With me were a Labatt Blue (or three) and a bag of blueberries that I had purchased at a local fruit stand.
I had planned on writing about my night as I was experiencing it but somehow the words wouldn't do it justice. Not to sound like my grandmother or anything but I think we all need a night like that.
(I had taken more pictures but I think somehow the camera has swallowed them up. I'll look for them tomorrow)
