Camera Killer

For as long as I can remember I have had an absolute loathing for the camera. I know, we all have this on some level. I have it on an extreme level. I didn't even own a camera for much of my life. I have very few pictures of myself from before the age of 30. When I have to spend time looking at more than a couple of shots of myself I feel like vomiting.

I was thinking about all of this on the drive home today an I'm not sure where this all comes from as I don't think that I am an ugly person. Then again, maybe somewhere down deep I really do. I have had people that wanted to date me over the years so it is possible that I took it on faith that others found me reasonably attractive (or had bad optometrists).

This has been a bit of an issue lately because we started to get some hard copies of our wedding photos. While Rebecca looks stunning in the pics, I look like Lurch if he hadn't been in the sun for a month or three. I have had an awful time looking at them - thankfully Rebecca has been a good sport about the whole thing. The funny thing about the whole thing is that two weeks before the ceremony we had a bit of a tift over how tan I was. Rebecca thought the pics were going to be a disaster because I was so brown. Needless to say, this was not an issue.

I can probably count on one hand the number of pics of me that were actually tolerable. Not good, but not worthy of vomit either.

Here is one:

Not too bad

As luck would have it, it was a low-quality picture taken by someone in the audience when I did my standup gig. Then again, maybe that is why I can tolerate it.

Now here is a sample from the wedding pics:

Ewww. Anyway, I'll guess that I'll continue my resentment with people that are more photogenic than I am (which is all of you).
