I know that I've been hinting at this for a while but as you probably noticed the redesign of muchgooder.com is almost complete. I've got a few things to iron out but the basics are here. I'm sorry for not returning a lot of email in the last two or three weeks!
I've always prided myself on being an application developer first and someone that is concerned with style... well, a distant second. It was time to change that around from what the previous design used to be. My bigger goal was to learn a new technology and to have a bigger area for content. You the reader has to suffer through my ramblings - the least I can do is not punish your eyes.
What you do not see is what happens under the covers. As with the previous design, I can publish a new blog without writing a lick of html. Everything happens under the covers - the article is published, menus are updated and links are refreshed. This pleases me. I hope to make a more solid template so that I can help out friends with their businesses and other endeavors. And in case you are wondering, yes, the weather at the top of the page comes from my weather stations in the back yard, bedroom and kegerator.
I'll have a few more changes to make (I'm not completely crazy about the present colors) but here are some of the changes that I've made:
1)
Comments
I hated the old way of leaving comments as well. You can now leave some of your wisdom without that insufferable popup box and you will see them immediately on the screen without a page refresh. This also pleases me.
2)
Movie Review Navigation
I made an attempt in the previous site to make the reviews more navigable but I never got there and in the end it was a mess. You'll notice that you can scroll through the whole list without the entire page reloading.
Future Improvements
More interesting content (good luck with that one)
More sidebar items
A sortable movie review area (almost done with this)
New tabs at the top of the page ("Developer", "Atheism" and probably a couple of more)
Some sort of live news feed
More browser testing - I noticed that the font is different in the various browsers
