This is a tougher task than I thought it would be.
I want something kind of manly - definitely not to feminine.
Nothing too big - who wants to be stuck with something that isn't nimble?
It has to be something that very few people have. Anyone can just grab something that you can find anywhere.
I want something off of the beaten path. When it is right I think I will just know it.
Baby names? No, cars. This is the conversation that I had in my head in 2004 when I was looking to buy my first new vehicle.
So why is this important now? Because I realized something the other day. I've been applying the same standards to baby names that I do to car selection. I'm not quite sure what that means - maybe it is part of my personality?
Anyway, we've come up with a few names so far. We had made a conscious decision not to spend too much time on this subject while Rebecca was in the first trimester because the pregnancy was considered to be a high risk. We've slowly been working it into the conversation more and more in recent weeks.
And no, we're not sharing any of the names. ;-)

I know a few of you are Woody Allen fans. We saw one of his hidden gems on Saturday night - Stardust Memories. You can see my review
here
. It was kind of like a "regular" Woody Allen movie except that it was directly about him and not him playing himself (if that makes sense). The review makes more sense.
We also caught the first movie by the Coen Brothers -
Blood Simple
- and it too was exquisite. It was probably the best plot of any of the movies that they've written. How frustrating is that? They write their masterpiece on their first try. Isn't that like George Michael writing "Carelesss Whisper" while he was in high school? (sorry, couldn't think of any other examples of that).

The excellent local sports talk show (Schopp and the Bulldog) had a fascinating topic the other day. The pitcher for our local team (the Bisons) gave up a hit to the first batter of the game. He then set down the next 27 straight hitters. So the topic is this: what is the best performance that you have seen in person? I'm struggling with this one as I haven't been to a ton of sporting events.
I'm going to have to give the nod to myself in this one. In little league I hit one over the fence. I had just moved up to the next level and we played on a rather large diamond. I am lefthanded and actually hit one out to left-center. Quite a shot, I tell you. The funny thing is that Schopp was umpiring that game. I remember this because he said "oh my God, he hit it out". Unfortunately I didn't realize that it had gone out until I rounded second base so I didn't get a chance to enjoy it. To this day it is the only ball that I've ever hit over a fence in baseball or softball. I have bounced a few balls off of the church in one of my leagues and that is considered to be a home run. Read into that as you will.
(and yes, I'm completely kidding about nominating myself)
