We had tickets to see Coldplay last night at Darien Lake. It was kind of a crappy day and we were thankful to be in the seated (covered) area rather than the lawn. Or so we thought - when we got there we found that the back couple rows of seats were behind the tent. As luck would have it, we were in these uncovered seats.
We decided to stand against the back fence so that we could see better as many a$$hats in front of us were standing on their seats. About 20 feet behind this fence was another fence that separated us from the plebians on the lawn. Yes, that $30 bump in ticket prices moved us up a whole 20 feet.
So about halfway through the show the band disappeared from the stage. We saw some commotion to our right but we couldn't see what was going on. The next thing we knew, the band was on a platform in the 20 feet between the two fences. Neither one of us had noticed that they had even set it up.
It was pretty cool to see one of the most famous people on the planet up close. I don't know how to say this so I'll just come out and say it: Chris Martin doesn't look nearly as goofy in person as he does on tv. He and the band played three or four accoustic songs on the small stage before heading back.
As luck would have it, my better half did not have her camera with her. That's right - the girl that brings her cell phone into the shower came to the show empty-handed.
