I thought this was one of the better dramas that I have seen in a long, long time.
The story is a simple one - all of the characters are stuck in a place where they don't want to be. They're all looking for their liberation. Do they find it?
I know that DiCaprio got a lot of credit for his portrayal of a disabled boy and much of the credit was deserved. I know I've written about this before (
here
) but I have never been impressed by an actor playing this character. Depp was by far the best thing to happen to this film, although for the first time in a long time I could stomache Juliette Lewis in a role.
Finallly, a movie without flash or special effects. Just a good story, that's all I ask.

Great call on this one Bubba - we absolutely loved it. I thought Depp was the best actor in this movie as I'm never impressed when someone plays a "challenged" person. After all, we spent our entire childhoods making those kind of faces and sounds. :-)

Good movie - you should see it. I am not a Leonardo Dicaprio fan, but he does a great job playing a mentally "challenged" kid...........probably his best work.
